Today on his blog, Max Allan Collins reveals that all twelve novels featuring Chicago/L.A. private investigator Nathan Heller are coming back into print. In addition there will be a new collection of the Heller short stories, Chicago Lightning, which will contain all the short stories from Dying in the Post-War World and Kisses of Death, as well as several uncollected stories.
Another new volume, Triple Play, will contain the three Heller novellas. Finally, the thirteenth Heller novel will be out in August. It's called Bye, Bye Baby, and finds Heller investigating the death of Marily Monroe.
Heller has always struck me as being one of the private eyes most faithful to those created in the genre's golden age, and especially similar to no-nonsense detectives such as Brett Halliday's Mike Shayne and William Campbell Gault's Brock Callahan.
