The illustrious Anthony Neil Smith, editor of Plots With Guns, has just released a new novel, Choke on Your Lies. I've read the first few chapters, and it's excellent, maybe the best thing Neil has written. It's the story of sad-sack Mick, English professor and sensitive poet, whose wife has just dumpled him, and his good friend Octavia VanderPlatts, who's going to help him... punish her. Octavia is shrewd, manipulative, and rich enough not to put up with any bullshit. A good friend to have in such a situation.
So Neil's running a special on the book: for the next two weeks, you can get it on your Kindle (or Nook, or whatever) for just 99 cents. A thought experiment: think of all the songs you bought from iTunes. Now think of the absolute crappiest one, the one you bought when you were drunk, or bought because your ex liked it, or bought by mistake. Isn't a new ANS novel worth at least that much?
I'll leave it up to you to decide, but it's a good book and you ought to give it a try.
